Illinois Divorce Cases

The Illinois Department of Public Health collects statistical records for divorces and annulments that occur within the State of Illinois.  The statistics being cited in this article were last updated 6/14/05.

Throughout the entire state, for the year 2000, there were 39,524 recorded cases.
The numbers for the year 2001 actually dropped to 37,294 recorded cases.
The numbers for the year 2002 began to increase with 37,670 recorded cases.

The most populated county in Illinois, Cook County, averaged 13,152 recorded cases during the years 2000-2002.

The fewest recorded cases for the year 2002 was found in Alexander County.  Only 6 cases were recorded in that county for the entire year.
